While walking along the beach on the shores of the east coast of Cerulean, Ozzie finds a young girl, crying "What's wrong," he asks, "Are you lost?" "No, but my Pidgeotto ran away. I wish I had another one. Hey, do you have one? I trade you a Charmander." "All right! I'll trade!" "His name is Chandler. Take good care of him." "Water Boy, go! Water Boy, let's surf down this beach water for a while." After a short ride on his Squirtle's back, Ozzie sees an abandoned Power Plant. "Stop here. Water Boy, return. Wow! I wonder what this place is." "Well, if you really want to know, it is the nesting ground for Zapdos, the electric legendary bird. It is also the home of many elexctric type Pokemon," said Mewtwo, answering my rhetorical question. "Whoa! I would love a Zapdos! Can you help me find him?" "Sure, why not." Leading me through the weird catacombs of the building, my first and favorite Pokemon showed me Zapdos. "I choose you, Chandler!" Another battle, another victory, another Pokemon for Ozzie. Zapdos was caught. "Now, Thunder (the name of his Zapdos) fly us to Vermillion City, please." With a flap of his wings, the team arrived in front of Lt. Surge's gym. After a rousing battle between Voltord, Electrobe, Chandler and Mewtwo, Ozzie was champ again. "I humbly give you the Thunder Badge as proof of your victory today. Congratulations. Hey, how old are you?" the Lt. asked. "13." Hey, you're just about my kid's age. I will give you a Thunder Stone and a Water Stone if you promise to let her go with you on your Pokemon journey. What do you say?" "OK, I'll do it! What is her name?" I inquired. "Her name is Tori, but that's OK. It's a coomon mistake when I say, "kid." Tori, come here please." "Yes father?" she said, showing herself to me for the first time. And I must say, she was pretty good looking. "How would you like to join Ozzie on his Pokemon journey?" "Wow! Thank you Daddy, Ozzie! Let's get started right away." "Actually," Ozzie said, "I was wondering if we could stop in the S.S. Anne before we left town. Is that OK?" "Sure. It's right this way." Next time....S.S. Anne!
