Daniel finally walks into Pewter City. He looks around, trying to find the local gym and the Pokécenter. He spots the Pokécenter, so he heads toward it. Just as he is about to step in, he spots a stray Chansey wandering around. "Hmm, that's odd," he thinks to himself. He steps into the Pokémon Center and heals his Pokémon before heading to Brock. Daniel steps in to the Pewter City Gym. He stands in awe for a moment, after all it is the first Pokémon Gym he has ever seen. He stands there until he hears a voice form somewhere unknown to him. "I am Brock, leader of the Pewter City Gym. It will be a two-on-two battle. I will use Geodude and Onix. Choose your Pokémon wisely." Daniel quickly sends out Bulbasaur and Pidgeot. Bulbasaur easily handles Geodude, but Pidgeot is having trouble against the huge Onix. "You should have trained your Pidgeot better," Brock says mockingly, as Pidgeot is knocked out after being slammed to the ground. Bulbasaur, unnoticed by Onix, sneaks up on the huge rock Pokémon and uses its Razor Leaf attack, knocking the behemoth out. Before Brock has a chance to announce Daniel's win, Bulbasaur glows a strange color and seems to grow. When Daniel sees what had happened, he is very happy. His Bulbasaur has just evolved into an Ivysaur! After receiving his Boulder Badge, he heals up his Pokémon, and heads back to Pallet Town to check in with his family. His trip home is rather uneventful, although he constantly sees that same wandering Chansey. Back in Pallet, he reads the local newspaper. One article quickly catches his attention. Mewtwo ~ Escaped! The article says, "Any Pokémon trainer that can find and successfully catch the missing Mewtwo, will receive a legendary Mew as their reward!!" "A Mew," he thinks to himself, "this is my best chance of ever getting one. I have to find Mewtwo!" He first must go to Cinnabar Island to tell the scientists he will be assisting them in finding Mewtwo. He doesn't want to tire out Pidgeot, so he decides to catch a water Pokemon. After an hour of nothing, he finally feels a tug on his pole, and what a tug it was! It took Daniel 10 minutes and a lot of strength to pull it in, but he was very glad with the results. He had caught a Dewgong! With his new Dewgong, he surfs to Cinnabar Island. When he gets there, though, most of the island is in ruins. The Mewtwo must have come back and ransacked the Island. The only clue he could find pertaining to Mewtwo's whereabouts was a flyer, floating about 50 yards from the island. It read,
Now Daniel knows where he must go....... Will Daniel find and capture the dangerous Mewtwo? Or will he end up like the inhabitants of Cinnabar Island? Look for part three for the answers to the Mewtwo mystery and for Daniel's adventures in Cerulean City. E-mail Brad at: FREEKYBOY6@aol.com
